Why recovery matters

What happens in the first few weeks after surgery has a lasting effect.
Small actions, how you move, rest, eat, and think, influence how you’ll feel months and years from now.

You’ll find practical resources covering:

What to expect before and after surgery

How to manage common symptoms and changes

How to return safely to the activities that make life feel normal again

Each section is designed to help you make informed choices, backed by evidence and explained in plain English.

A note from Ally

I’ve spent more than twenty-five years helping people move with confidence.
My background is in movement education, using anatomy, biomechanics, and behaviour change to help people understand how their bodies work.

Too many women leave hospital unsure of what’s safe or what’s normal.

This site is here to change that. You’ll find up-to-date, trustworthy information you can actually use, so recovery becomes something you understand, not something that happens to you.

And if at any point you’d like more personal guidance, there are options to work with me directly, either online or in person at my studio in Surrey.

About Ally Taylor:

I’m a movement educator, personal trainer, and coach with over twenty-five years in the health and fitness industry.

My work focuses on helping women after hysterectomy regain strength, mobility, and confidence through evidence-based movement and education.

I’m not a physiotherapist, my expertise lies in teaching how the body heals and adapts through movement that’s both practical and progressive.

Over the years, I’ve trained hundreds of professionals across the UK, written for FitPro Magazine and ViPR, and presented at national industry events.

Alongside my recovery work, I co-own Amovida Studio in Surrey, where I coach in person and continue to teach functional movement to a wide range of clients.

Outside the studio, I work nationally as an educator, writer, and presenter, helping fitness professionals develop confidence in teaching evidence-based movement that genuinely supports health and recovery.

Why I built this resource

Many women are told to “rest” after surgery but not shown how to return to normal life safely.
Information is scattered, often contradictory, and rarely written in a way that makes sense to someone living it.
I wanted to provide clear, consistent, research-informed guidance in one place, accessible to anyone who needs it.

Everything here is drawn from clinical evidence and real-world experience.
It’s not about pushing limits or “bouncing back”; it’s about rebuilding strength, balance, and trust in your body through informed, progressive steps.

My philosophy

Good recovery combines science, structure, and self-awareness.
When you understand what’s happening, you make better choices, and confidence follows naturally.

I aim to make complex information simple, practical, and relevant.
If you’re looking for hype or quick fixes, you won’t find them here.
If you want accurate information, explained clearly, you’re in the right place.

“When you know what your body needs, recovery stops feeling uncertain and starts feeling possible.”

My Approach to Recovery

Hysterectomy recovery is different for everyone, but the underlying principles are well-understood.
My approach uses research, movement science, and experience to turn those principles into real-world actions you can take with confidence.

Clear information. Practical steps. Real results.

1. Evidence first

All guidance here is based on current clinical and exercise science research -on wound healing, hormones, pelvic floor function, and mental wellbeing.
You’ll always know why a recommendation exists, not just what to do.

2. Movement as part of healing

Movement improves circulation, supports tissue repair, and restores coordination.
Done progressively and with good technique, it helps reduce discomfort and rebuild confidence.
You’ll find videos and step-by-step examples showing how to reintroduce movement safely.

3. Recovery includes the mind

Surgery can affect how you feel about your body and your identity.
Understanding that link between physical healing and emotional response helps you manage stress, improve sleep, and support hormonal balance.
It’s not “mind over matter”; it’s science.

4. Knowledge replaces fear

When you understand what’s normal, you stop second-guessing every sensation.
That’s why every section of this site explains what’s happening in your body and what to expect next, so you can make informed, confident decisions.

5. Designed for real life

Most people don’t have hours each day to dedicate to recovery.
Everything here fits into everyday life, small, achievable actions that create consistent progress.

Your body knows how to heal. The right knowledge helps it do so more efficiently.
— Ally Taylor

In summary

Good recovery isn’t mysterious.
It’s built on accurate information, consistent practice, and the confidence that you can influence your own outcome.
